Last week on Friday I went to Jellie park with some of my school friends. I enjoyed the experience, my favorite part was the hydro-slide because it goes fast. My least favorite part was getting sun-burt. I'm not too sun-burnt now but its just turned into tan. I liked hanging out with my friends and buying ice blocks from the mini cafe.
I was a pupil at Rāwhiti School and this blog is where I shared my learning. This blog has been archived, no further content will be uploaded or added. You are welcome to continue viewing posts, however commenting has been disabled.

Should kids be able to eat fruit in class when they want to?
We should be able to eat fruit in class at any time we choose. | I think that we should not be able to do eat fruit at anytime in class. First of all we have a really large amount of devices in our class room and most fruits contain juices, therefore the devices in our classroom would be unsafe around fruit. There could be a rule that children are not allowed to eat fruit around devices but then if children are allowed to eat fruit whenever they want they probably would not be able to learn much because they would be eating fruit all day. |

End of term Reflection
This term started off well, I had a good group of friends and the work wasn't too hard. There was very little amount of drama. Corona - virus didn't effect me as much as I expected it too, although it made the term harder than it had to be.
Halfway through the term school was harder I lost some friends and that started to make me focus less on my work which caused the work to seem harder.
Now at the end of the term which is right now I feel more settled down with my friends and the work. I have really enjoyed all of the opportunities this term like leading the learning for A
drenalin Forest and Spencer Park camp. I look forward to coming back next term and focusing more on my work and having more opportunities to make new memories.

Literacy
For literacy I had to watch a scene for the movie Harry potter ( the phillsopher's stone) about Snape. we had to review this piece of the movie and focus on the really small things like the camera angles and the way the characters are dressed. here is the piece of writing I writ to describe the scene in the movie
From this scene we can tell that Snape is a angry figure from him wearing black and wearing a long robe which is stereotypically what evil figures wear in movies. We can also tell from this scene that he is probably a potions teachers because of the way he talks to harry and you can tell that when the camera faces on harry hes sitting at a desk along with Hermoine, if you pay very close attention to the back and the sides of the room you can notice there is potion bottles which also lead to our conclusion that he is a potion teacher. We know that he doesnt treat students equally because of the way he targets harry and asks him questions that snap knows harry wont know. He completely ignores Hermoine while she holds her hand up.
Volley Ball
For the last couple of days me and some of my classmates have been going down to the hall in the afternoon to play volley ball. we have recently started a volley ball tournament along with many other sports tournaments such as Netball, Soccer, Touch ect.
I've really liked volley ball the past few days and Look forward to working up my skills to become better and more competitive. I think I need to work on getting my serve right and digging the ball up. So far with my serving I've gotten it to go the right way I just need to work on hitting it harder to make it reach the other side of the net. With my digging the ball up I need to work on not hitting it so hard and just letting it bounce off my arms.

The never ending work story
Work. Work. Work. When does it stop?
My heads racing I can’t seed straight I feel like I’ve been working for the last nine hours non - stop, but in reality its only been 2. Its now 7 o’clock the suns starting to rise and the birds are chirping loudly. My class starts at 9am and I need to start getting ready soon, My hearts pounding out of my chest its so loud I can barely get one thought into my head. Its now 8am and I need to start getting ready first I need to get dressed soon after I get dressed I slip my brown boots that have been withered by years of use. On to my cold feet that are small and skinny.
I say bye to my cat bobby “bye bobby” I say while lightly closing the door trying not to frighten him. Its now 8:45am, I only live 5 minutes away from my class so I can walk there. As I get inside my hearts pounding about a million bpm. I hand my easy into my professor. The next day I go to class at the same time I walk in and my heart again is beating about one million bpm. He gives me my results and I got an A+! Im so relieved. All my hard work finally paid off.

Science/ the circle of life
Finding the multiples of 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8
Can you guess the emotion?
She sits at her desk waiting to be handed the paper that would decide her future. At first the butterflies in her stomach were tiny but now have transformed themselves into big raging boulders causing her to feel anxious. She grabs her pens from her hot pink school bag and places them lightly on her oak scarred desk that had withered by years of use and etchings of former students. Sitting by the window help calm and relax her and she can distract herself by looking out into the lush paddocks. She feels calm because of this and wishes the test will start soon.
p Finally the teacher hands her the paper and says she can begin she grabs her first pen off the edge of the desk almost causing the rest to fall. The tip of her pen touches the paper and no ink seems to appear. She tries the second pen and the story goes the same way, finally she tries the last pen praying that this one would work, she grabs the pen with a lot of grip because of how much stress she is under, she then places the tip of the pen onto the paper and when she sees a little dot of ink a sigh of relief makes the whole class stare.

Multiplication
Today in maths we did a multiplication test. I got 99 / 100 and I got a time of 6 minutes and 2 seconds which is better than I have done before. Next week my goal will be my seven times tables because those are hardest for me. The method I think worked well for me was missing out all the sums I needed to think about and leaving them till the end.

Scientific diagrams
Explaining scientific diagrams
Scientific diagrams are made up of several different elements. The elements differ from purpose, audience, visuals, symbols and labels.
Scientific diagrams are usually made to inform you of new information.
Purpose:
The purpose of these scientific diagrams is to give information. We know this because of the simple factual language that is used for example the labels in in the first text I read such as warmth, sap ect. Or ‘a low basket will not interfere with root growth ‘ in the second text’.
Audience:
The audience for scientific diagrams can differ. I know this because the first text I read ‘how do plants grow’ has an audience for yr ⅚ because of how brightly coloured the diagram is, and the second text I read ‘how to grow an apple tree’ would be young adults because it has more complex words, less colour and longer sentences such as ‘set root ball on undisturbed soil to prevent setting’.
VIsuals:
Scientific diagrams visuals can vary between many different options. The first text I read ‘how do plants grow’ had many different fonts and colours because it was made for a younger audience and The second text I read ‘planting an apple tree’ was very plain and had more complex colours and words which was made for an older audience.
Symbols:
Scientific diagrams contain many different symbols. Such as arrows which show movement like in ‘how do plants grow?’ There are three arrows that are titled warmth and light because they symbolize the light from the sun nourishing the plants.
Or in text two ‘how to grow an apple tree’ they use lines which do not symbol movement but they connect the diagram and the text together.
Words:
The words in scientific diagrams can vary between many options the first piece of text I read ‘how do plants grow had very plain single words because it was made for a younger less mature audience. The second piece of writing I read had more complex words such as biodegradable, low - profile and stabilize because it is made for an older audience.

Rulers
This is the experiment we did.
One person held a ruler and dropped it and I had to catch it with my finger and my thumb and whatever number my thumb was on is my score in this case my scores were 22cm, 17cm and 16cm.
My best score was 16cm.
My average score was 18.3 ( 22 + 17 + 16 / 3 = 18.3)

Tech
In sewing we are making a bag, today for my bag I did a design on the front I am doing a sunflower and the quote "save the bees" so far I have traced my sunflower and coloured it in. My next step is to start sewing the bag.
In foods today we made 'salad in a cup', we also learned about the four different food groups for example the milk and milk products group which would give you calcium which gives you stronger bones. Some ways you could get calcium is drinking or eating milk, yogurt or cream.
I like all my teachers for tech so far and look forward to seeing them next week.
Maths
for example: 30/50 = 60
I am very confident with what I have learned in math and I think its stuck in my brain now.
