Jellie park

 Last week on Friday I went to Jellie park with some of my school friends. I enjoyed the experience, my favorite part was the hydro-slide because it goes fast. My least favorite part was getting sun-burt. I'm not too sun-burnt now but its just turned into tan. I liked hanging out with my friends and buying ice blocks from the mini cafe.

Rawhit A an P

At my school we're doing a A and P show because the canterbury A and P show is cancelled I am entering two things the first thing is a Kiwiana word find that I made during my literacy times with Ava I have posted the wordfind just before I posted this so you can go do the wordfind. The second thing I am entering is not ready but only just started. Me and Ava are making Gingerbread men and Rudolph Cupcakes. We are going to make them at school and then have a bake sale after school on monday. We have to take photos to put up posters even thought we are not selling them at the market. I'm excited to bake and look forward to making profit.

Constructing in Math

Today in Math we we're learning to construst. We had a sheet of paper that showed us the measuments and angles of the shape we had to make. The shape we had to make was a triangle but it wasn't an exact triangle it was weird. We had to make three but the other two we could just trace of the first one, Once we made three we were supposed to try and figure out how to make a cube out of the three templates. The first step I did was to rule out the shape on to some cardboard and then measured out the angels with a protractor. The second step I took was too cut out the first triangle. After I cut the first triangle out I traced it twice more and then writ my name on all of the pieces. Tomorrow my goal is to figure out how to make a cube with all of the triangles.

Hexagonal Star Pyramid

Today we made shapes , I couldn't really figure out how to make the star so I just made it into a triangle instead. I had fun making different shapes but I got glue all over myself. Im going to try again tomorrow with a better mindset because I messed around a little bit today. But tomorrow I will focus on finishing my star without failing.

My story

I’m lost. I pull up my red jacket sleeve to reveal my wrist and my 90s style stirling silver watch, the watch reads half 9 which means I left home precisely 30 minutes ago and now i’m here in this rainy, miserable unfamiliar place. But the question is where am I, where is this rainy, miserable unfamiliar place? I do not recognize this place or maybe I do, maybe its just that theres such a crowd here that I don’t recall ever coming here before. I can’t have gone too far right? Its only been half an hour since I left my apartment. A young handsome man approaches me he must have noticed I was struggling I feel a hand touch my left shoulder even though his hand was boiling it put chills through my body his first words are “ Are you okay my dear” I humbly reply with “yes, i’m fine” But the truth is I was not fine I was scared I didn’t know where I was. Was I even still in my country state of Georgia no Of course I wasn’t I wasn’t even in the country I was by the clock tower. I was trying to think but I could help myself get distracted by the handsome tall figure beside me I could decide whether or not to ask him where the heck I was. I decided I was not going to ask him where we were but instead ask him for his number just as I was about to speak he interrupts me and says “ your a very beautiful lady, whats your number?.” I was shocked because he read my mind but quickly I replied with “yes, yes of course you can have my number your not to bad yourself you know ” he chuckles while he passes me a note size of paper and a very posh pen. As I am writing down my number I see him from the corner of my eye smiling. I pass him the piece of paper and as he walks away he says “the train stations that way” and points to the left. He then continues by saying maybe there will be a train going to georgia. I thought to myself did I say all that stuff aloud did he hear me say how handsome he was? Oh no. I walk the way he directed me and I couldn’t stop thinking of this mysterious man. After a few minutes I made it to the Tennessee Train Station.

Learning shapes

I put these shapes into to groups polygons and non polygons, The reason the non polygons are in group the non polygon groups is because they are not polygons because polygons have all straight sides and are quadrilaterral and are 2d and non polygons do not.
On this image I put lines connect the number of sides and the shapes. I am learning to recognise different shaped by the number of sides they have. I have learnt some hacks like an Octogon has 8 sides because an Oc-topus has 8 legs and a nonagon has nine sides because its the only one that starts with the letter n.

Why I think we need good manners in our studio.

I think we need manners in our classroom because manners keep everyone nice, you may have heard the saying if you smile at someone they'll smile back well if you use that metaphorically then in other words if you put in even just a little bit of effort in to being nice to someone they'll hopefully be nice back. Even just simply greeting someone at the door with a big "hello, how has your day been". I also think we need manners in our classroom because it gives people confidence. Let's say you were playing a sport that you yourself were really good at but there was one of your classmates struggling you could give them tips or even just say "that was a great try, but maybe next time" If we are just talking about our basic manners like please and thank you's, sorry or eating nicely. They're basic skills all you have to do is remember that if you want people to treat you well treat them well first be the bigger person. Say thank you or no thank you if someone offers or does something for you. say please if you ask someone a question or ask for something. Say sorry if you make a mistake. Another reason you should use manners is because it makes other people feel better. If you try to put others' feelings before yours it'll automatically make others around you feel better before you say something that could cause any type of problem or make someone else unhappy. If you are happy and use your manners you will make other people happy and it will make the world a better place for everyone. Yes I know there are some people that you can't make happy by just using manners but some people you can. Giving compliments is a very good way to show your manners as it makes other people happy and should make yourself feel better. Try and notice all the nice things people do for you and appreciate them or better still show your appreciation by being cheerful, helping out and doing things for others. Your manners change you to be a better version of yourself. Be honest it makes people trust you, if you tell a lie once it takes people a while for people to trust you and want to be around you. Accept your own mistakes, take the blame for them, and say sorry quickly then it's over with and in the past. Try not to make people wait for you to be on time. only say kind things. Try and see the funny side of things when they go wrong, it helps everyone realise that often people do things without thinking or without understanding what might happen. When I clean up the mess I have made it shows that I don't expect others to do it for me, that I am not lazy and that I don't think others should have to look at my mess because I didn't clean it up. When I think about others feelings before saying anything I make sure that I don't say anything rude that could offend them or make them feel bad which makes sure you protect their feelings from being hurt and makes you a good person. Always say please, It sounds less demanding and shows you will appreciate the thing you are asking them to do. It will make them want to do it more, if you don't say please it sounds bossy and not nice. When I talk quietly I am not being annoying and I am being respectful of people's peace.

It is wrong to fight. Do you think it is wrong to fight? For me it's a yes fighting causes pain among other humans as well as yourselves. Over 300 people die a year from getting assaulted in Australasia (the continent that contains Australia, New Zealand and many other smaller countries). If that many people die from getting into fights every year just in one small continent, could you imagine how many innocent peoples lives would be gone in other larger countries or continents such as the United States Of America or Asia. Adults fighting is bad enough but school fighting is even worse because it sets up a chain of fighting throughout the school, therefore encourages youth to misbehave for their teachers or guardians and teaches youth that misbehaving is okay therefore they will take this behaviour to their adult years which will lead to teaching more youth to do the same and so on. Studies show that 7% of students skip school because they have felt unsafe in the environment of their classmates fighting other people inside the school premises or talking about doing it out of school grounds. If children are afraid to go to school everyday then society is going to slowly get dummer and dummer because of the lack of learning from students. Fighting can cause Homicide. Homicide is death caused by someone else in other words murder. Homicides caused from assault is the second most reported cause of death for youth, after accidents and followed by suicide. Society has changed in the past couple of years and has gained more violence than before. In 1960 - 1980 less than 5,000 people passed away from homicide but in 2000 - 2019 over 21,000 people have died worldwide. Therefore all of these points lead me to agree that it is wrong to fight. Should kids be able to eat fruit in class when they want to?

 


We should be able to eat fruit in class at any time we choose.

I think that we should not be able to do eat fruit at anytime in class.


First of all we have a really large amount of devices in our class room and most fruits contain juices, therefore the devices in our classroom would be unsafe around fruit. There could be a rule that children are not allowed to eat fruit around devices but then if children are allowed to eat fruit whenever they want they probably would not be able to learn much because they would be eating fruit all day.

End of term Reflection

 This term started off well, I had a good group of friends and the work wasn't too hard. There was very little amount of drama. Corona - virus didn't effect me as much as I expected it too, although it made the term harder than it had to be. 

Halfway through the term school was harder I lost some friends and that started to make me focus less on my work which caused the work to seem harder.

Now at the end of the term which is right now I feel more settled down with my friends and the work. I have really enjoyed all of the opportunities this term like leading the learning for A

drenalin Forest and Spencer Park camp. I look forward to coming back next term and focusing more on my work and having more opportunities to make new memories.

  In the morning at about 6 mopst of my class went skiing and only a small amount stayed back. THe first thing we did in the morning was science and we finished early so we played kahoot. Then went out to break.

The next thing we did was play quizlet and go outside and then go out to break. and now we are writing a blog and ten comments for the kids who are coming into our class next year

Literacy

 For literacy I had to watch a scene for the movie Harry potter ( the phillsopher's stone) about Snape. we had to review this piece of the movie and focus on the really small things like the camera angles and the way the characters are dressed. here is the piece of writing I writ to describe the scene in the movie 


 From this scene we can tell that Snape is a angry figure from him wearing black and wearing a long robe which is stereotypically what evil figures wear in movies. We can also tell from this scene that he is probably a potions teachers because of the way he talks to harry and you can tell that when the camera faces on harry hes sitting at a desk along with Hermoine, if you pay very close attention to the back and the sides of the room you can notice there is potion bottles which also lead to our conclusion that he is a potion teacher. We know that he doesnt treat students equally because of the way he targets harry and asks him questions that snap knows harry wont know. He completely ignores Hermoine while she holds her hand up.

Volley Ball

 For the last couple of days me and some of my classmates have been going down to the hall in the afternoon to play volley ball. we have recently started a volley ball tournament along with many other sports tournaments such as Netball, Soccer, Touch ect. 

I've really liked volley ball the past few days and Look forward to working up my skills to become better and more competitive. I think I need to work on getting my serve right and digging the ball up. So far with my serving I've gotten it to go the right way I just need to work on hitting it harder to make it reach the other side of the net. With my digging the ball up I need to work on not hitting it so hard and just letting it bounce off my arms.

The never ending work story

 Work. Work. Work. When does it stop? 

My heads racing I can’t seed straight I feel like I’ve been working for the last nine hours non - stop, but in reality its only been 2. Its now 7 o’clock the suns starting to rise and the birds are chirping loudly. My class starts at 9am and I need to start getting ready soon,  My hearts pounding out of my chest its so loud I can barely get one thought into my head. Its now 8am and I need to start getting ready first I need to get dressed soon after I get dressed I slip my brown boots that have been withered by years of use. On to my cold feet that are small and skinny.

I say bye to my cat bobby “bye bobby” I say while lightly closing the door trying not to frighten him. Its now 8:45am, I only live 5 minutes away from my class so I can walk there. As I get inside my hearts pounding about a million bpm. I hand my easy into my professor. The next day I go to class at the same time I walk in and my heart again is beating about one million bpm. He gives me my results and I got an A+! Im so relieved. All my hard work finally paid off.

Science/ the circle of life

 

Thjis is my diagram about how the bird tomtit live. As you can see the first produces is a plant which is called the primary producer. The second thing you can see is the insects which are called the primary consumers they eat the primary producer.
The third one you can see is the tomtit which is named the secondary predator they eat small insects such as flies and bees. The last one here is the ferret this is the apex predator for this circle because none of the other things can eat or threaten it, The ferret eat insects and small birds life tomtits

Finding the multiples of 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8

At first I found finding multiples quite difficult and confusing until I realized how easy it was because of how many shortcuts I learnt.
Finding the multiples is easier than I thought eg. If you are trying too find the multiples of 5 all you have to do is count up in 5's therefore the multiples of 5 are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 , 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 ect.

The multiples of 2 are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ect


I made this blog post to show you how I understand finding the multiples and I hope this helped you understand more about  how to find the multiples of numbers. 

Can you guess the emotion?

 She sits at her desk waiting to be handed the paper that would decide her future. At first the butterflies in her stomach were tiny but now have transformed themselves into big raging boulders causing her to feel anxious. She grabs her pens from her hot pink school bag and places them lightly on her oak scarred desk that had withered by years of use and etchings of former students. Sitting by the window help calm and relax her and she can distract herself by looking out into the lush paddocks. She feels calm because of this and wishes the test will start soon.

p Finally the teacher hands her the paper and says she can begin she grabs her first pen off the edge of the desk almost causing the rest to fall. The tip of her pen touches the paper and no ink seems to appear. She tries the second pen and the story goes the same way, finally she tries the last pen praying that this one would work, she grabs the pen with a lot  of grip because of how much stress she is under, she then places the tip of the pen onto the paper and when she sees a little dot of ink a sigh of relief makes the whole class stare.

Cheetah Diagram

 

The audience for scientific diagrams can differ. The Diagram I've made  has an audience for older people because the diagram is black and white and has more complex words.

The purpose of this diagram is to show/inform people of the cheetah and to label all of the different body parts of a cheetah.

The visuals of scientific diagrams can vary through many different options. For my different diagram I picked to make it a black and white theme because I wanted to be for a older audience.

Scientific diagrams can contain many different symbols, for my diagram I chose to use lines because I wasn't trying to symbol movement. If you use arrows in your diagram you are trying to symbol movement or sunlight ect.


The words in scientific diagrams can differ. My diagram was made for a older audience therefore it has more complex words and longer sentences.

Multiplication

 Today in maths we did a multiplication test. I got 99 / 100 and I got a time of 6 minutes and 2 seconds which is better than I have done before. Next week my goal will be my seven times tables because those are hardest for me. The method I think worked well for me was missing out all the sums I needed to think about and leaving them till the end.

Scientific diagrams

 Explaining scientific diagrams

Scientific diagrams are made up of several different elements. The elements differ from purpose, audience, visuals, symbols and labels. 

Scientific diagrams are usually made to inform you of new information.


Purpose:

 The purpose of these scientific diagrams is to give information. We know this because of the simple factual language that is used for example the labels in in the first text I read such as warmth, sap ect. Or ‘a low basket will not interfere with root growth ‘ in the second text’.


Audience:

The audience for scientific diagrams can differ. I know this because the first text I read ‘how do plants grow’  has an audience for yr ⅚ because of how brightly coloured the diagram is, and the second text I read ‘how to grow an apple tree’ would be young adults because it has more complex words,  less colour and  longer sentences such as ‘set root ball on undisturbed soil to prevent setting’.

 

VIsuals:

Scientific diagrams visuals can vary between many different options. The first text I read ‘how do plants grow’ had many different fonts and colours because it was made for a younger audience and The second text I read ‘planting an apple tree’ was very plain and had more complex colours and words which was made for an older audience.



Symbols:

Scientific diagrams contain many different symbols. Such as arrows which show movement like in ‘how do plants grow?’ There are three arrows that are titled warmth and light because they symbolize the light from the sun nourishing the plants. 

Or in text two ‘how to grow an apple tree’ they use lines which do not symbol  movement but they connect the diagram and the text together.


Words:

The words in scientific diagrams can vary between many options the first piece of text I read ‘how do plants grow had very plain single words because it was made for a younger less mature audience. The second piece of writing I read had more complex words such as biodegradable, low - profile and stabilize because it is made for an older audience.

Adrenaline forest


Yesterday a number of students in my class went on an adventure to Adrenaline forest.
First we had to take the vans. then when we got there got out and introduced ourselfs to the instructors and they showed us how to work the harness ect.
Once we got up high I was scared but once we finished the 3rd course I was happy and me and Ava decided to move on to the fifth one which we thought would be semi easy we were extremely wrong. We got up so high and I got stuck but I managed to get my self out of it. Overall it was a breath taking experiment and I would love to do it again.

We had to get on to a bike and put a chalk line under our front tire then we rode to what we thought was a metre. I got 2 metres so I need a bit of practice on estimating.

Rulers

WALT: read a ruler accuratley

This is the experiment we did.
One person held a ruler and dropped it and I had to catch it with my finger and my thumb and whatever number my thumb was on is my score in this case my scores were 22cm, 17cm and 16cm.
My best score was 16cm.
My average score was 18.3 ( 22 + 17 + 16 / 3 = 18.3)

Summarise:  What was your novel about? (no more than 30 words)
This is a fictional novel,
about a couple of detectives trying to solve a murder mystery.
In the first chapters
they trace all of the clues and they think that some of them might be red - hearings.
Some of the clues trace to it being some sort of mammal such as a dog.
Overall  this book was quite boring and probably wouldn't read it again but I did
enjoy reading it with my group.

Poetry reading

This week we had a poetry reading in our literacy group, I read my poem called 'another war' Which is about the war the world is facing. I was a little bit nervous to read the poem writ but I managed.
After we read our poems we got a lolly of our choice, I loved reading all the creative poems people writ.

This week I went to Tech, I'm in sewing and foods. for foods this week we made Calzone, I didn't really like it but that's Ok. in sewing this week I put the handles on m bag all I have left to do is put the liner in.

Tech

In tech this week I had sewing and foods.

In sewing we are making a bag, today for my bag I did a design on the front I am doing a sunflower and the quote "save the bees" so far I have traced my sunflower and coloured it in. My next step is to start sewing the bag.

In foods today we made 'salad in a cup', we also learned about the four different food groups for example the milk and milk products group which would give you calcium which gives you stronger bones. Some ways you could get calcium is drinking or eating milk, yogurt or cream.

I like all my teachers for tech so far and look forward to seeing them next week.

Maths

In math this week we have been learning how to find the percentage of a fraction
for example: 30/50 = 60
I am very confident with what I have learned in math and I think its stuck in my brain now.

MUltiplication

today we did our 100 multiplication goals for the first time since lockdown. I think that lockdown affected me and brain was a little bit slower. I got 91/100 in 8 minutes I am proud of myself.

Tech on Thursday

Today we went to tech, in the morning we got on to the bus at 8:30 and left it took us about half an hour to get there. Once we got there we went to our class which is room 11 and we had a different teacher, usually we would have Mr. pledge but today we had Mr. Beckwith I enjoyed doing wood works this term and I completed my Big photo frame, My small photo frame and two key chains.

My next class was in room 18 which is digi tech my teacher in that class is Miss Gorman. In that class I completed my game which was about a princess falling and a price catching her, this game was fun to make because it was designed for a 4 year old, overall i enjoyed being in this class for term 2.

Multiplication goals

This week on my multiplication test I got  99 / 100 in 8:38. I have improved because most weeks I would get 82 - 92 in 10 mins but I got a higher score in a lower time this week. I feel more confident because I find the sums easier.
My next goal is 7 X 7 which equals 49 that is the sum that slowed me down.

When I first saw them I wasnt really interested in trying them because I dont like minty stuff.
This product was ok but it was very hard unlike pineapple lumps which I like better beciase when you bite into them theyre chewy and I just like the pineapple taste better

Fitness & Zumba

This morning we had fitness. We got into teams of 10 so that we could relay race around the bike track I was team red flag we didn't place because this race wasn't really a fast race the point of it was to not give up, participating and contribute. We started at one cone and had to run around to the next one carrying a tyre, once you got the next cone you would pass it to your team mate. After we had finished we came inside and did Zumba fitness workout dance and watched Youtube tutorials for Zumba fitness we also practiced salsa steps and learnt the Cupid Shuffle as a whole class.

Foraging

Yesterday I went foraging with Mr Redmond and a few other kids, we got apples, plums and pears.
When we first got there it was very muddy and my shoes were getting wet and dirty. It was funny watching everyone climb the trees and try get the fruit and even though they failed they tried again and again. Mr Redmond did get a little bit mad because everyone was wasting the fruit but other than that it was fun. I enjoyed going and getting the fruit and i'm excited to see what they make it into.

About being a leader..
What knew before? I knew that being a leader means stepping up and taking lead And also contributing.
What I know now?  being a leader means being humble and putting others before you, being a leader means either stepping up and guiding everyone or stepping down and being a follower and also contributing and participating using TRUMP which are the Key Competencies for learning.
